Everyone Dies. Make Money. Oil on Panel. This is a mid-process update of a portrait of Oliver Winchester, the founder of Winchester Arms. This is the first of a series of paintings I’ve been working on. The series is conceptually based on the structure of identity informed by a historical and cultural context. Specifically with this painting I’m focusing on a reconciliation, or lack there of, of a person’s sense of humanity ( or sense of compassion) versus the advancement of one’s socio/economic status. Moreover, the hoarding of resources may have more to do with inherent characteristics of the human organism rather than a moral dilemma, yet the consideration of moral ideals are still prevalent especially in historical context.
It’s pretty quiet around here; mixing tracks, writing and staying warm.
